According to advertisements, High T Senior “helps aging men reclaim physical endurance, strength, and libido, while supporting healthy testosterone levels.”

High T Senior testosterone supplement has 373 Facebook likes on its selling page on GNC.com. This shows a good number of people have heard of—and like—High T Senior.

I wondered whether High T Senior had the ingredients to justify popularity, so I researched High T Senior’s formula.

What’s Inside the Bottle?

High T Senior contains vitamins and minerals important for aging adults. Vitamins B6 and B12 amounts are higher than the daily value but not a high enough amount to cause side effects.

Additionally, High T Senior has a 1200 mg blend of testosterone-raising ingredients. The dosages are not included, so it’s hard to evaluate whether there is enough of each to produce desired benefits.

The ingredients have interesting properties, though. Let’s take a look under the microscope, so to speak, as we evaluate properties of 5 key ingredients:

Phytopin Mixed Plant Sterols (Beta-Sitosterol 250 mg). Plant sterols are plant-derived compounds that lower cholesterol and may improve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). [1] Beta-sitosterol in particular has been found to relieve enlarged prostate symptoms such as urinary symptoms and flow measures. [2] A root containing beta-sitosterol increased testosterone in mice, but I was unable to locate a similar human study. [3]

Testofen Fenugreek Extract. Testofen is an extract from fenugreek, a plant used to treat erectile dysfunction, standardized to contain 50% of a group of saponin glycosides known as fenuside. [4] In one study, 500 mg Testofen for 8 weeks increased testosterone in comparison with placebo. [5]

Eurycoma Longifolia. This herb, also known as Malaysian ginseng, increased testosterone in people with late-onset hypogonadism. Giving patients 200 mg eurycoma for 1 month raised the percentage of patients with normal testosterone levels from 35.5% to 90.8%. [6] In another study, 200 mg eurycoma for 3 months improved sperm quality and fertility rate in 75 patients. [7]

Rhodiola Rosea. In one study on rhodiola rosea’s impact on endurance performance, 200 mg rhodiola rosea extract increased time to exhaustion during exercise, improving exercise endurance. [8] Rhodiola rosea also reduces stress-induced fatigue. [9] This could treat effects of aging, but I could not locate evidence supporting rhodiola rosea as a testosterone booster.

Boron. Boron’s success is difficult to measure. In a 1993 study, resistance training increased testosterone levels, but 2.5 mg boron supplementation for 7 weeks had no additional effect on testosterone compared with placebo. [10]

In a 2011 study, 11.6 mg boron increased free testosterone levels. Scientists stated: “Based on recent clinical data, this must be the first human study report to show an increase level of free testosterone after boron consumption.” [11]

Will High T Senior Cause Side Effects?

High T Senior appears safe, although individual ingredients may cause side effects. Here’s a rundown of potential side effects:

• Beta-sitosterol: nausea, indigestion, gas, diarrhea, constipation [12]
• Fenugreek: diarrhea, stomach upset, bloating, gas, allergic reactions [13]
• Boron: Doses over 20 mg can cause infertility and poisoning [14]
• Vanadium: Low blood sugar; in doses higher than 1.8 mg, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea, gas, loss of energy, nervous system problems, kidney damage [15]

What Do Customers Think of High T Senior?

On GNC.com, 44 people gave High T Senior an average of 4/5 stars, which means most people rated High T Senior worth the price.

Ursafilms reported High T Senior worked for him: “Felt an immediate increase in energy, especially during workouts. More importantly, it kept me going during my active day. I have a somewhat physical job, and don’t have nearly the fatigue I felt coming on the past few years.”

Some customers said they experienced little to no results, however. Dcsmark said, “This product does absolutely nothing for me. Have used for over 3 weeks. I take a multiple vitamin and other supplements. I exercise. No increased energy, no increased sex drive. Nothing at all to report.”

Dcsmark’s comments lead me to wonder whether a healthy diet and exercise could be more effective for some people than taking High T Senior.

Terranceelison remarked on various aspects of High T Senior to help users get more out of it: “Like any product, it takes time for your system to absorb and acquire the essential ingredients to be effective. I have been taking the product for about 2 months and I will attest the effectiveness regarding stamina, energy and erectile performance. One has to understand it’s not a pop-n-go pill, you have to begin a supplement regiment. . . . I have to admit that I do not like the smell or taste but to some it’s tolerable.”

Is High T Senior a Good Value?

Several GNC users wish High T Senior’s price was lower. It costs around $60 on GNC.com, but it costs much less—around $35—at other locations. A bottle of 90 capsules will last a month.

High T Senior definitely has positive qualities, including proven ingredients and the fact that many users are seeing results. But, there’s not much about the ingredients or pricing that make it stand above other testosterone supplements. Look into other testosterone supplements before making a final buying decision.
