Nugenix

NugenixDirect Digital released their first testosterone supplements Nugenix in late 2012. It is supposed to increase the following:

• Testosterone
• Muscle mass
• Libido
• Strength
• Stamina
• Vitality

If Nugenix contains the right ingredients, these benefits are well within consumers’ reach. But “effectiveness” is only one factor I consider before buying a testosterone supplement.

Can You Try Nugenix Risk Free?

Even after doing the research and reading the reviews, buying Nugenix is a gamble. Sure Nugenix may work for some, but what if it doesn’t work for you?

Direct Digital does not have a money back guarantee, but they do offer a free trial. You pay shipping and handling ($4.99) and the company sends you a 14-day supply.

The company allows 4 days for Nugenix to ship and then the 14-day free trial starts. So, the trial really lasts 18 days after the original purchase date.

If you do not cancel within 18 days, you will be charged $74.98. You will also be enrolled in Direct Digital’s monthly auto-ship program. I’m usually skeptical about these programs because so many consumers complain about them. But this program has one advantage: all auto-ship products are covered by a 30 day money back guarantee.

The Researched Ingredients

Nugenix contains 6 ingredients, but only 4 are clinically proven:

Zinc. Zinc-deficient men were given zinc supplements. After 6 months, their testosterone levels increased to normal.[1] Another study showed that besides increasing testosterone, zinc also boosts sperm count.[2]

Testofen Fenugreek Extract. For years, fenugreek was believed to increase testosterone and inhibit aromatase. In 2010, researchers found evidence to support this theory. 30 men consumed fenugreek or a placebo every day. Eight weeks later the fenugreek group had more total and free testosterone, and less body fat.[3]

L-Citrulline Malate. Scientists say L-Citrulline converts into Arginine, which is more bioavailable than the Arginine in supplements. By increasing Arginine, L-Citrulline increases nitric oxide and enhances blood flow. In one study, L-Citrulline was shown to improve erections.[4]

Tribulus Terrestris. Most Tribulus studies involve animals. There are a few human studies, but these are small and poorly designed. The studies involving animals show Tribulus boosts testosterone and increases libido.[5][6][7]

The Proprietary Blend Problem

Nugenix contains a 5 mg zinc dosage, which is too small to increase testosterone. The Testofen, L-Citrulline, and Tribulus dosages are hidden in a proprietary blend.

Direct Digital and many other companies use proprietary blends. It helps them by hiding their formulas from competitors. But proprietary blends present problems for consumers.

First, proprietary blends prevent consumers from seeing if effective dosages are used. During studies, specific dosages were used for Nugenix’s 4 researched ingredients. Unless Nugenix contains these dosages, it will not be effective.

Second, proprietary blends prevent consumers from seeing if safe dosages are used. Nugenix contains safe ingredients. However, these ingredients may be unsafe or cause side effects if unsafe dosages are used.

Third, proprietary blends do not inspire confidence. Nugenix is not a cheap supplement. Before I spend any money, I want to know exactly what I’m getting. I want to know Nugenix contains safe, effective dosages and ingredients. Because Direct Digital keeps dosages a secret, I don’t feel confident buying Nugenix.

When companies use proprietary blends, I turn to customer reviews. If there are enough positive reviews, my confidence is restored.

Where to Find Customer Reviews

I found the most Nugenix customer reviews on Amazon.com and GNC.com. Unfortunately, what I found actually makes me less confident in Nugenix. Here are the average ratings users gave Nugenix:

• Amazon.com: 2.6 out of 5 stars from 17 users
• GNC.com: 3 out of 5 stars from 22 users

Based on these reviews, Nugenix may be a safe testosterone supplement. There was no mention of side effects, allergic reactions, or health issues.

However, the majority did not get results from Nugenix. In fact, several people said they didn’t feel anything after taking Nugenix. A few said the supplement actually decreased their libido and energy.

Is Direct Digital a Reliable Company?

I’m familiar with Direct Digital because they make several popular products. So I was very surprised by my Nugenix research. Direct Digital doesn’t always use proprietary blends. One example is Instaflex; a joint supplement produced by Direct Digital. The product label shows every ingredient dosage.

Also, the Better Business Bureau gives the Instaflex company an A- rating. The main reason BBB gives the company such a high rating is because they address and resolve all customer complaints.

In my experience, Direct Digital is a reliable company. But it seems making testosterone supplements is not their strong suit.

Should You Buy Nugenix?

Nugenix retails for $69.99 on Nugenix.com, Amazon.com, and GNC.com. The lowest price I found is $55.99 on LuckyVitamin.com. This is how much the best testosterone supplements cost. But it’s too much to pay for Nugenix. So, I don’t recommend buying it.

I don’t know enough about how safe and effective Nugenix’s formula is. According to customer reviews, the product may be safe, but it’s not very effective.

You could try it risk free for 14 days, but this may not be enough time. The few users who saw improvements said Nugenix takes several weeks to start working. Save your money for the best testosterone supplements.

  1. Close to Great But some others are better 06/11/2013

I like Nugenix but prefer some other testosterone boosters over it. It didn’t work as fast but I did notice some increases in overall energy so it was ok.

  2. Riley 11/05/2013

“Belt Overhang” is incorrectly called simply “Fat”. It it that simple? I’ve had lifelong dementia but I’ve also had a persistent lifelong tendency to excess waist girth.

Is it not reasonable then to conclude both issues could be from the SAME CAUSE? I just now rc’d my Trial Nugenix and took one to go to sleep on, another one this morning. I must say it had an immediate positive effect on me. It seems to have settled my nerves down and stopped food craving.

I’ve decided that waistline fat is Amyloidosis. This is where Amyloid Proteins (that cause Dementia) are being deposited as a solid instead of remaining in the soluble form. I’ve read that the greatest disease coming towards Baby Boomers is Dementia, but Obesity is right there with it.

I’ve been taking a “cocktail” of Coconut Oil + Olive Oil (Virgin Light) + 3-4 drops of Tea Tree Oil since August 2012. It immediately stopped the sharp pains in my heart & lower left side OVERNIGHT but after taking a teaspon per day for several months I noticed ever so slightly that my Dementia was going away.

Getting rid of the solid “fat” that is really solidified Amyloid Proteins doesn’t appear to be happening, too late for that, but if these testosterone products can help me reduce it down then my health tonic formula will likely keep me slim. Not easy to do when your thyroid function has left the building and a very low metabolism remains. My Body temperature btw all my life has been V/LOW @ 96.3 degrees F. When my body makes fat it sets up from my Cold Body temperature, then it Hardens to where blood vessels going through it become clamped shut, preventing all weightloss products from reaching it.

It has indeed been a lifelong d*mnable set of conditions that made losing weight an impossibility. At any rate I will try some other products here, probably the Testogenic. I’m 62+ but I am not one who throws in the white towel easily. If doctors and medical researchers refuse to help me then I will do their work for them til I win.

Thanks for the help!!! – Riley of Roanoke Virginia
