DVS Raw is a deer antler velvet dietary supplement.

There has been some controversy recently over deer antler velvet in spray form. Professional sports have banned substances that give athletes artificial hormones such as IGF-1, calling it illegal doping.

Does DVS Raw contain banned substances? Let’s take a look at the ingredients to find out.

DVS Raw features 550 mg deer antler velvet.

Deer antler velvet contains IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor) which is a precursor to HGH (human growth hormone). [1]

IGF-1 is usually used to help people who do not grow at optimum levels. However, it has also been used by athletes looking to improve athletic performance. [2]

A clinical study analyzed the effectiveness of deer antler velvet in increasing blood plasma levels of IGF-1. The 10-week study looked at 38 participants as they underwent resistance training. Although the deer antler velvet did not affect IGF-1 levels in the participants’ systems, strength and endurance did increase. [3]

Are There Any Banned Ingredients in DVS Raw?

IGF-1 is a banned substance in the United States, according to the United States Anti-Doping Agency. It is currently mentioned by name on the 2013 Prohibited List. [4]

IGF-1 is also included on the International Standard 2013 Prohibited List. [5]

However, since deer antler velvet does not increase artificial IGF-1 or contain IGF-1, it is not included in the same ban as IGF-1 products. DVS Raw does not contain banned substances.

Are There Side Effects of DVS Raw?

Deer antler velvet does not appear to cause immediate side effects apart from an occasional allergic reaction. There may be some risks associated with raising hormone levels, but since there have been no long-term studies of deer antler velvet, these risks are unknown. [6]

Recommended Dosage

The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules. However, DVS Raw can also be taken with a loading phase of 4 capsules per day. This loading phase should only last 1-2 weeks.

What Do Consumers Say About DVS Raw?

Consumers give DVS Raw mixed reviews. Some see immediate results in performance and recovery while others see no results whatsoever.

Here are a few examples of their responses:

“Used this for the past 2 months, definitely have noticed a difference in recovery. I also sleep a lot deeper and enjoy that aspect of it.” —SamSmith7556, BodyBuilding.com

“Didn’t really notice much of a difference in anything. I took 3 capsules daily for 2 weeks. Maybe I need to wait a few more weeks.” –Mitch1953, BodyBuilding.com

Despite these conflicting results, DVS Raw is a top seller at BodyBuilding.com.

How Much Does DVS Raw Cost?

DVS Raw is available at BodyBuilding.com for about $25 per bottle. Each bottle contains 60 capsules, which should last 30 days if taken at the recommended daily dose. If a loading phase is included, the bottle should last about 2 weeks.

Should You Try DVS Raw?

DVS Raw is a top seller at BodyBuilding.com. However, the science supporting deer antler velvet is inconclusive at best. The consumer feedback is also mixed.

At this point, I would wait to purchase DVS Raw until more research is done concerning deer antler velvet’s effectiveness and safety.
