GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex

GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex

Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex, a new product released by General Nutrition Corporation (GNC), is said to trigger anabolic factors for peak performance. [1]

With 600 milligrams of Testofen fenugreek and 1000 milligrams of tribulus terrestris, Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex purportedly supports testosterone levels.

I need to look at the ingredients to determine whether Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex measures up to GNC’s claims.

What Are the Ingredients?

Main ingredients in GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex include:

Tribulus Terrestris Fruit Extract is believed to treat heart and circulatory problems, as well as optimize sport performance by altering hormonal levels. [2]

Though, there are several conflicting clinical studies regarding these claims.

One study suggests tribulus terrestris increased testosterone and estrogen levels, but this claim was refuted by a medical center. [3] A clinical study in 2006 tested 21 young males and concluded tribulus terrestris did not significantly alter testosterone levels. [4]

Testofen Fenugreek Seed Extract is said to contain “variety of powerful bioactive compounds, such as protodioscin and steroidal saponins.” [5] There also exist several conflicting studies as to whether Testofen fenugreek increases free testosterone levels.

One study claims Testofen affected not only free testosterone levels, but it also states Testofen has a “favorable impact” on skin fold thickness, a sign of reducing body fat. [6] Another study suggests fenugreek supplementation does not enhance hormonal status. [7]

Cellulose is an insoluble complex carbohydrate. Cellulose is often used as a food additive to manipulate textures in food products. It is generally recommended as safe by the Food and Drug Administration. [8]

Gelatin contains collagen and attributes to cartilage and bone make up. It is believed gelatin helps with arthritis. [9]

Dicalcium Phosphate is a food additive like gelatin, manufactured from phosphoric acid. It is also an antioxidant used in some foods. [10]

Are There Any Side Effects?

Little is known about GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex, so it’s difficult to anticipate potential side effects.

“Been taking for 4 days now. Nothing noticeable yet,” says one user on “I have been taking all pills first thing in the morning with water. Easy to take and does not upset my stomach. I hope this gives me a boost in the gym. I will follow up after 30 day supply is up.”

While this review is promising, some known side effects are associated with tribulus terrestris and Testofen fenugreek: [11]

• Bloating
• Period irregularity
• Troubles sleeping
• Gas
• Nausea
• May imitate estrogen effects in women

Due to the active ingredient tribulus terrestris, it is not recommended for women. [2]

Is GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex a Great Choice?

The few clinical studies resulting in inconsistent data are something to consider when deciding whether GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex is for you. While there may be potential benefits, the lacking clinical data makes me question the main claims GNC Pro Performance Hybrid Test Complex is said to offer.
