Even though it’s a new testosterone booster, Muscletech Test HD is already acquiring positive feedback.

“I have a lot more energy (only been on it for a week) compared to other test boosts I’ve tried,” said KramerCos on Bodybuilding.com.

With popular ingredients like stinging nettle, and new players like shilajit extract, Muscletech Test HD looks promising, but there are still a lot of unknowns. Learn all you need to know about Muscletech Test HD before jumping on the buying bandwagon.

All About Muscletech

Muscletech employees are the producers of various athletic performance products, including Mass-Tech, Phase8, and Push10. Muscletech products are highly rated on Bodybuilding.com. In fact, another testosterone booster by Muscletech, AlphaTest, is rated 8.5/10, although the ingredients are different from Test HD’s (only boron and zinc remain the same).

A pretty successful company coming out with a new testosterone booster could create excitement. But can the ingredients in Muscletech Test HD stand on their own?

What Makes Up Muscletech Test HD?

If you’re well-versed in testosterone supplements, you’ll see a lot of familiar ingredients in Muscletech Test HD. These ingredients include zinc, tribulus terrestris, boron, and stinging nettle. Muscletech Test HD also contains estrogen-blocking broccoli powder with DIM and dopamine-raising velvet bean extract.

One ingredient you might not be familiar with is shilajit extract, a tar-like substance found in mountain rock.

Let’s take a closer look at the four ingredients that are the focus of Muscletech Test HD’s webpage:

Shilajit (100 mg). In one clinical study, 100 mg shilajit was given to 60 infertile men for 90 days. Testosterone increased by about 23.5% in 28 men who completed the study. It also increased total sperm count. [1]

Shilajit has not caused significant toxicological symptoms in studies so far, but there isn’t yet enough information about it to establish proper dosages. [2]

Boron Citrate (100 mg). Boron has met with mixed results in studies. In one, 10 mg boron a day raised testosterone in 8 men after just one week of supplementation. [3] In another, 2.5 mg boron failed to raise testosterone in 10 bodybuilders after 7 weeks. [4] Both studies used too small of a sample size to reach a definite conclusion.

According to WebMD, boron might harm men’s fertility in doses larger than 20 mg per day; according to Test HD manufacturers, boron citrate provides just 5% boron, but the boron dosage could still be dangerous. It could also cause tremors, depression, diarrhea, vomiting, and other side effects. [5]

Stinging Nettle (50 mg). Stinging nettle has been found to inhibit 5 a-reductase, an estrogen-metabolizing enzyme, and aromatase, an enzyme crucial to estrogen biosynthesis. This could potentially block the conversion of testosterone to estrogen and maintain higher testosterone levels. [6]

There isn’t yet an established dosage for stinging nettle, but it might cause stomach complaints or sweating. [7]

Tribulus (250 mg). Though popular, tribulus has yet to prove its testosterone-raising worth in studies. In one study, 21 men took either 20 or 10 mg/kg body weight tribulus for 4 weeks (so, a 200 lb. male would take either 1800 mg or 900 mg). Despite the high dosages, there was no significant difference in testosterone levels between tribulus takers and placebo takers. [8]

There is no established dosage for tribulus, but it might cause trouble sleeping in any dosage.[9]

What is the Dosage for Muscletech Test HD?

According to supplement facts, you need to take only two capsules a day: 1 in the morning and the other mid-afternoon or 30 minutes before a workout. You are advised not to exceed the recommended dosage.

It’s nice to see a testosterone booster with so few pills required. Like other supplements, it should not be used if you are under 18, pregnant, or nursing (although it’s doubtful why women would want to use it at all). If you have medical conditions, like diabetes or a blood deficiency, or if you are taking medication, talk to a doctor before using.

Is Muscletech Test HD a Good Deal?

Muscletech Test HD costs between $50 and $90 at various locations. Other testosterone boosters can be found for as low as $11.31 on Amazon.com, so why pay so much for Muscletech Test HD?

Muscletech Test HD is a new product from a successful company, and it has an interesting new ingredient. However, this ingredient is not yet proven to raise testosterone, and the other ingredients are common to other testosterone boosters.

Reports of positive results may rise for Muscletech Test HD, but for now, buying it is a bit of a gamble.
